JotPsych's features page sums up its scribe in two lines: "Record your session. Get a structured, audit-ready note in seconds." If you are weighing alternatives, this page sets out what JotPsych's site lists (checked October 29, 2026), where Reframe differs, and when JotPsych is the better fit.
What JotPsych is
JotPsych's home page describes it as "Notes, e-prescribing, scheduling, telehealth, and billing on one platform, for every clinician you employ." The same page calls it "One platform for PMHNPs and psychiatrists" (PMHNPs are psychiatric nurse practitioners), and JotPsych's page for clinicians says "JotPsych works for therapists, social workers, and larger clinics too."
On how the note gets made, JotPsych's features page says: "Hit record on your phone, tablet, or desktop. JotPsych listens to your session and produces a complete, structured clinical note, formatted to your chosen template, in under 60 seconds." It lists "60+ pre-built behavioral health templates" covering "Psychiatric intakes, follow-ups, therapy progress notes, group notes, EMDR, ABA", and says: "Upload a sample note and JotPsych will reverse-engineer your format into a reusable template."
The same page lists CPT and ICD-10 code suggestions, JotAudit ("Every note runs through JotAudit before you sign it."), claim generation, insurance eligibility checks and JotRx e-prescribing. On getting the note into your record, it says: "Our Chrome extension detects your EHR and pushes the completed note directly into the right patient chart." JotPsych's home page adds: "Works with any EHR. Or replaces it entirely."
Privacy, in JotPsych's words. JotPsych's security page says: "Original recordings are destroyed the moment transcription completes." It also says: "Your clinical sessions are never used to train or fine-tune AI models." For its full security and privacy statements, read JotPsych's security page.

Where Reframe differs
- Typed, not recorded. After the session you type what happened in your own shorthand, and Reframe drafts the progress note from that text. Nothing records the session.
- Focused on progress notes. SOAP, DAP, BIRP, GIRP, PIRP and narrative, plus a custom format you save.
- What happens to your session text. Reframe processes your session text to draft the note and does not store it on its servers.
- A free allowance that renews. 20 free notes every 30 days with a free account, no credit card.
Reframe's job is narrower than JotPsych's: a progress-note draft from your typed shorthand, which you check, finish and paste into your own EHR.
When JotPsych is the better choice
Each point below is as listed on JotPsych's site, checked October 29, 2026, with a link to the page it comes from.
- You prescribe. JotPsych's features page says JotRx lets you "send prescriptions, including controlled substances, without switching to a separate system", and its template list includes med management.
- You want the session recorded. If you would rather have the note produced from a recording, in the room or on telehealth, JotPsych's features page says it "listens to your session and produces a complete, structured clinical note" and "Works with in-person and telehealth sessions".
- You want coding and billing in the same place. JotPsych's features page lists CPT and ICD-10 code suggestions, JotAudit, which "Flags risks before you sign the note", claim generation and insurance eligibility checks. Its pricing page lists managed billing: "JotBill, done for you."
- You want one system for the practice. JotPsych's home page says: "Works with any EHR. Or replaces it entirely." The same page lists notes, e-prescribing, scheduling, telehealth, billing and patient follow-ups in one platform.
- You need more than progress notes. JotPsych's features page lists specialty templates ("EMDR, ABA, group therapy") and a document generator for "Referral letters, prior auth narratives, disability forms", which it says "Pulls from session data automatically".
- You hold sessions in another language. JotPsych's home page says it "works with 16 different languages" and that "the note written will always be in English regardless of what language is used during the session."
