How it grades
What the 9 checks look at
The grader reads one page of your site, usually the homepage, and runs the same checks a person auditing it by hand would start with. Passing checks earn full weight, partial passes earn half, and anything the grader could not read is excluded rather than counted against you.
Page title
Exists, is a healthy length, and names a specialty or location instead of a platform default like "Home".
Meta description
Present, 70 to 160 characters, and not leftover placeholder text. This is your search listing copy.
Mobile setup
The viewport tag that tells phones how to display your site. Most therapy searches happen on a phone.
Contact path
A tappable phone link, email link, contact form, or booking link a visitor can reach from the page.
Specialty clarity
Your main heading or opening text names who you help, not just a welcome message.
Business info for Google
Structured schema markup that labels your site as a practice so Google can understand it.
Page weight
The size and structure of the page HTML as a loading proxy. This is page weight, not a Core Web Vitals score.
Secure connection
The site loads over HTTPS so browsers do not mark it "Not secure".
Share preview
A browser tab icon and a social preview image so shared links look finished.
One more row is reported as information only: whether your site links to a Psychology Today profile. It carries no weight either way.

What does the website grader check?
Nine scored checks on one page of your site: page title, meta description, mobile setup, contact path, specialty clarity, structured business info for Google, page weight, secure connection, and share preview. It also reports, as information only, whether your site links to a Psychology Today profile.
Is this a full SEO audit or a speed test?
No. It reads the HTML of one page and runs deterministic checks on it. The page weight check measures the size and structure of that HTML, not a Core Web Vitals score, and the grader does not crawl your whole site or measure rankings.
Do you store my website or need my email?
No email, no account. We fetch one page of your site, grade it in memory, and store nothing from it. The only thing logged is the domain and the score.
Why could the grader only read part of my site?
Some website platforms load their content with JavaScript after the page arrives. The grader reads the raw HTML and cannot run JavaScript, so on those sites a few checks are marked as not completed and they do not count toward your grade.
My site got a low grade. What should I fix first?
